Microcode update by remote connection

Hi,

Problem:
At site X we have a hmc and managed systems.

I am at site Y and want to update a managed system. There is a network between X an Y but the hmc and managed system doesnt have a internet connection.

How can I get the rpm and xml file on the hmc /opt/ccfw/data?

I assume that ManagedSystemX1 (msX1) and the HMCX have a "private" connection as this is a requirement for HMC management. This is enough for the HMC to update the managed system.

What is unclear is whether there is also a network connection (not necessarily "internet") between the partitions of the managed system and the HMC. If you are using DLPAR - this must be true, i.e., local network (intranet) connection.

If there is a connection between a partition or another management system in area X and the HMC you should be able to use scp (secure copy aka sftp/ssh copy) to copy the file from a machine in intranetX to HMCX.

Hope my assumptions are near enough that you can finish the puzzle.
