Starting up again with Wheezy
« on: August 16, 2013, 08:23:41 PM »
Not much has happened - for me - with Linux on Power until recently. I was getting some things accomplished back in 2008, but not the forward motion I was looking for.

Now with Debian Wheezy and the real - WORKING - support for vscsi devices I feel the time has come to open this venue again.

There are two DVD .iso files I have successfully loaded and booted on Power5 and a friends Power7.

The key element to success is to choose the "targeted" initrd, not the generic. yaboot will not load the generic one, and the boot of wheezy will fail.

Quick write up is here: HOWTO: Install Debian - Wheezy - on POWER Systems
