Title: For sale: IBM pSeries 630 (7028-6C4)
Post by: Tim on February 23, 2017, 10:14:26 PM
Many years ago I acquired an IBM pSeries 630 so I could play with it at home. Since I do not have a license for AIX I wanted to experiment with Linux on POWER.

Unfortunately I never had (or took) the time to actually do this. Since I will not have time in the near future, nor the space to keep my 19 inch rack, I am looking for a new owner.
This is a 7028-6C4 from approximately 2004, all hardware seems to be working fine. Only the IBM logo on the front panel is a bit loose. Some specifications:

Processor: 4-way POWER4+ 1.45 GHz 64-bit
Memory: 8192 MB
Storage: 4x 36 GB SCSI disk drive (hot swappable)
Adapters: 2x gigabit Ethernet, 2x FC adapter (2 Gbps PCI-X)
Onboard: 2x Ethernet 100 Mbps, 3x serial port

Redundant PSUs. Including 19 inch rack rails and the cable arm at the back.
The system does not come with an operating system installed.

It can be collected in 's-Hertogenbosch (NL). I don't think it has any economic value left, but some beers would be nice :)
