Busy with python
« on: October 26, 2018, 07:11:01 AM »
Last Sunday Python3-3.7.1 and Python3-3.6.7 were released.

I am working on packaging Python3-3.7.1. Before posting the package I am going to look at some PR's (pull requests) I have in the pipeline for "master" branch and hopefully also version 3.7.2. If they offer a real potential improvement to the AIX platform I'll list the PR's here and in the aixtools wiki. Most are just some corrections in the "test" modules, i.e., code that is only executed during the test suite - and I'll just wait for Python community to merge those.

I am not "in a rush" to package the Python3-3.6.7 branch. HOWEVER, if that is specifically what you need - just ask and I'll get it posted.

Also, I am interested in hearing whether the preference is for 32-bit or 64-bit builds. My intent is 64-bit executable but provide both 32-bit and 64-bit libraries. I suppose I could also look at having 32-bit and 64-bit executable s (e.g., named python3-32 and python3-64 and a symbolic link from python3 to one of the two for the "default").

Let me know what works best for you!

Michael

Just finished the Python3-3.7.1 packaging. No time to experiment, so it is as it is. Still, more tests passed than for Python3-3.7.0 -- so progress is being made.
