« on: February 10, 2022, 08:01:16 PM »
It appears the latest python release on AIXTOOLS is 3.9.1

Any chance of getting an update.. preferably in the 3.10 realm..
Thanks for all you do..

hi.

vacation atm, but i was working on a new packaging.

see: http://download.aixtools.net/tools/aixtools.python.py39.3.9.10.0.I

note: prefix is now /opt/aixtools so programs are in /opt/aixtools/bin.

you will also need openssl-1.1.1.1200. latest versions of python won't build encryption with v1.0.2 anymore.

i'll get the 64-bit version done next week i expect, as well as the python 3.10 although, i have a work trip, probably after the 21st for the 3.10 version.

re: Python3-9 and later.

Due to some changes in the coding - I cannot build the 64-bit version using the xlCv11 compiler. The 32-bit (only) version builds all right, so that is placed in http://download/aixtools.net/tools/aix5.

I am working on a dual (32-bit and 64-bit libraries, 64-bit binary programs) - but this will not run on AIX 5.3 due to the new compiler demands.

Sincerely,
Michael

thanks Michael..
I don't know how many people are developing on python3 and still using AIX 5.3..  I guess older "run it until it literally breaks" systems...

OK. Pages updated: http://www.aixtools.net/index.php/py3a and http://www.aixtools.net/index.php/py39 for Python3.10 and Python3.9 respectively.

Where is openssl-1.1.1.1200? http://download.aixtools.net/tools/aixtools.openssl.1.1.1.7.I doesn't work.

The fileset openssl.1.1.1.* are part of AIX base (so available via fix central), or, with a (no-charge) IBMid via the Web Service Packs.

Maybe this link works (taking you to a login page first): https://www.ibm.com/resources/mrs/assets/DownloadList?source=aixbp&lang=en_US

Also, on http://www.rootvg.net in the top-right there is a link to AIX Web Packs. Sadly, IBM changes their policy regarding this page - so the links might not work.

As a last resort, try to google: AIX Web Pack OpenSSL or OpenSSH.

Hope this helps.

Michael

p.s. I did not put the requirement in their for fun. Python obsoleted using any OpenSSL less than this version (for building, so also for running).
