It appears the 3.18.* version depends on a rte fileset provided by libc++.rte .

For now, I suggest using cmake-3.16. OR - download the try and buy xlC-v16, and install the libc++.a supporting fileset.

FYI: I got that fileset from a try-and-buy version of xlC-16. Likely a code change prevented me from using my normal compiler.

I had a go at compiling cmake, so many ar related problems. I can understand why you tried something else.

Apparently the xlC-16 runtime of libc++.rte isn't sufficient (https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/795548).

Been on vacation - getting started now.

Still interested?

p.s. looking at cmake-3.21.1 as well.

A lower interest than when I posted it. I assume a version bump of cmake won't resolve pthread path issues. Eventually a version bump would be nice however.

Researching a power outage - has priority.

I am looking into dependencies - says AIX 7.1 TL4 - but the fileset xlC.aix61.rte that is compatable with clC-v16 is unclear when it became the standard xlC..aix61.rte (was based for xlC-v13.2 for a long time).

Michael
