Bad link in python
« on: September 13, 2016, 11:45:05 PM »
Evaluating the recent python 2.7.12.1 and noticed that the link for the patch is not available.

That is the URL http://download.aixtools.net/test/python/Python2.7.Lib.ctypes.160823.patch does not refer to anything, the patch is referred to on the web page http://www.aixtools.net/index.php/python

Can you let me know where I can download the patch from.

Thanks.

I reworked the patch - and a new one is available.

The package is no version 2.7.12.2 - the change being a cleaned up patch (that you can now read) AND pip, which has been embedded since Python3.4 and then backported to Python2.7.9 is now activated automatically with AIX - as the simpliest way to have it working for you out of the box.

My apologies that the prior patch was not available on my forum (it was, and is still available via the Python bug tracker - https://bugs.python.org/

Found a bug - and patched that as well. This is not in the patch file on my server.

To read what I patched - and now call python-2.7.12.3 see http://bugs.python.org/issue28311

Currently testing before I put on the wiki - link soon to come.
