any chance for a Midnight Commander package?

Hi,
would you please consider making an MC package? Most of the time it is quite nightmarish to install it from binray RPMs due to the dependencies and I don't like to mess with system libraries.

Sure - I'll look into it. But if it has a GUI interface it may be difficult to build using a posix C compiler (in my case, xlc aka vac, or xlC (for C++)). There are a number of gnu projects who have felt that being written to work with gcc and/or g++ is portable enough.
Today is a holiday - so I won't be looking into it today!

I cheated - and looked a little bit. Since it seems to be able to work based on curses or termcap - I see more possibilities for this to be possible. If IBM i can run it, (see
http://ibmsystemsmag.com/blogs/open-your-i/november-2018/all-hail-the-midnight-commander/
) AIX should be possible as well.
More homework though!

Hi. I already installed MC on both AIX and IBM i LPARs, I just don't like the "dependency hell" I have to cope with while setting it up - that's why I would like to have a "clean" way to deploy it. Thanks in advance for your time / effort on this.

Ah. glib, and it's many dependencies.
It has been a couple of years since I have looked at that. I'll give it a go, but that has always been boring, and never a satisfactory build.
The would be a dependency hell.

The issue continues.
"glib-init.c", line 334.3: 1506-205 (S) #error Your platform/compiler is missing constructor support
whileit says elsewhere that C90 is the basis. Sigh,

As I said before - been a few years since I experimented with this.
I have tried the latest "Trial" xlc and still get the same message - such that glib only builds with gcc (on AIX). I am unclear what additional dependencies that adds (to support gcc needs). Looking into that tomorrow.
